HA NOI (Biz Hub) — The FPT Information System Company (FPT IS) won first prize at this year's eAsia Awards for its electronic customs clearance system for public services.

The award was presented by the Asia Pacific Council for Trade Facilitation and Electronic Business (AFACT).

Commenting on the award, Tran Phong Chau, deputy director of the company, said: "The award reaffirms the position and experience of FPT IS in the field of electronic services and e-customs."

Its e-customs application, being sold over the past eight years, aims at building and upgrading its system, expanding electronics customs by modernising procedures and IT infrastructure used in the customs sector.

There were 135 customs departments using the system in Viet Nam, as of August 2013. More than 40,000 businesses used the service, accounting for 94.6 per cent of the firms involved in export procedures.
