FPT and Mila sign partnership agreement on AI

FPT Corporation and Mila, a leading research institute in artificial intelligence (AI), signed a strategic partnership co-operation agreement via an online meeting in Ha Noi and Montreal (Canada) on Friday.

Accordingly, FPT is the first technology corporation in Southeast Asia to become a strategic partner of Mila.

The initial co-operation agreement over three years (2020-2023) will promote the strengths of both sides on four major segments.

These includes research and development to improve AI capacity of FPT; strategic consultation based on Mila's experience to build an FPT.AI research centre in Viet Nam, particularly in Quy Nhon City, Binh Dinh Province; human resource training and exchange; and seeking business development opportunities in Mila's partner ecosystem.

Mila highly appreciated FPT's position and potential as the corporation met criteria for selecting partners, of which, the most important one was to possess the AI core technology platform and potential AI applications, which are fully compatible and valuable to Mila's AI ecosystem.

Speaking at the signing ceremony, Truong Gia Binh, FPT Chairman, said that the corporation’s dream was to make Viet Nam the world's AI ​​centre.

“With the consultation and successful experience of Mila, we believe this dream will come true, Viet Nam will become the leading AI centre in Southeast Asia,” he said.

Through the co-operation, solutions applying AI technology of FPT would continue to be upgraded and improved to help businesses solve the problems of operation and build a digital enterprise to breakthrough in the “new normal” state, he noted.

The co-operation agreement between FPT and Mila will continue to improve technology products and solutions based AI platforms, and quickly accelerate digital transformation, as well as constantly spreading technological achievements in the Vietnamese technology community in the future. — VNS
