HA NOI (Biz Hub) — FPT Software JSC will team up with Saigon Industry Corporation-One Member Limited (CNS) to implement the DesignHouse project, involving the manufacture of the first Vietnamese commercial semiconductor chips.
According to an agreement signed on October 8, the project will be carried out from 2015 to 2018. FPT Software will form a team that will design integrated circuits for CNS, which will construct a one-hectare chip-making factory at the Saigon Hi-tech Park in HCM City.
At the signing ceremony, FPT Software Chief Executive Officer Nguyen Thanh Lam said FPT Corporation was looking forward to creating more products made in Vietnam, and the partnership with CNS was a big opportunity for both companies to make this happen.
CNS Deputy General Director Nguyen Van Tho said his company wanted to construct the factory since 2006 but could not find any partner.
"We will cooperate in a training and human resources exchange to contribute to the success of the project. I believe that the cooperation will add to the development of Viet Nam, and will lead to the creation of the first semiconductor chips made in Viet Nam," he said.
Tho added that the project would be carried out following the government's high-technology development strategy.
