HA NOI (Biz Hub) — Nguyen Ha Dong and his famous game "Flappy Bird" were named in the Guinness Book of World Records 2016, making Dong the only Vietnamese to get in the book this year.

The game's strange record was being the first app to be withdrawn after topping the Apple App Store chart.

Dong released Flappy Bird in May 2013, but the game became popular worldwide in early 2014.

Despite topping game charts and earning Dong a reported US$50,000 per day, he surprisingly decided to remove it from both Apple's App Store and Google Play in February 2014.

The game was downloaded 10 million times in the last 22 hours after Dong declared he planned to remove it.

Last year, Forbes Viet Nam, the Vietnamese edition of the renowned American business magazine, also listed Nguyen Ha Dong among 30 of the country's brightest stars under the age of 30.

Nguyen Ha Dong's latest game, Swing Copters 2, was released globally but not in Viet Nam.

Dong's game company, .GEARS, was also reported to have worked with Obokaidem, a Japanese developer, on a new game, scheduled to be released this year. VNS
