Viet Nam Electricity (EVN) is co-operating with Viet Nam Payment Solution Joint Stock Company (VNPAY) to enable online QR payments of electricity bills.

All customers can pay their electricity bills by scanning their QR code on mobile banking applications. People can find the code by accessing EVN’s customer care website for the region in which they live.

The QR code payment function has been connected with mobile banking of most big banks in Viet Nam including BIDV, Vietcombank, VietinBank, Agribank, TPBank, VPBank, Maritime Bank, SCB and SHB. Customers can pay through QR code, ATM card, banking account, international card or e-wallet by using the VNPAY payment gate.

EVN said the move aimed to bring convenience to its customers and apply Industry 4.0 technologies. Paying by QR code will save time and avoid account information leaks.

QR Pay is a popular payment method for many services including in restaurants, shopping, taxi fares, bill payment and booking tickets. It has built a diversified ecosystem for customers.

Eighteen banks and around 30,000 businesses in different sectors use the payment method nationwide. — VNS
