DA NANG (Biz Hub) — The 2015 International Satellite Symposium, a collection of 150 International Telecommunication Union (ITU) delegates and satellite developers, came to a close on October 1 in the central city of Da Nang.
The event, co-organised by Vietnamese Authority of Radio Frequency Management (ARFM) and the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), covered topics such as international satellite regulations, policy, and country practices in communications and broadcasting services.
Attendants also discussed satellite market and technology trends, as well as industry opportunities.
Pham Hong Hai, deputy minister of information and communication, voiced his hope that Vietnamese firms and industry players get important updates on industry information, technology, market and trends.
He also said that the event's impressive array of experts and industry leaders demonstrated the importance of sharing information and cooperation in the satellite community.
Satellite communications in Viet Nam have seen big strides in development in recent years.
The country now provides services from two satellites: VINASAT-1 satellite, which launched in 2008; and VINASAT-2, which went into orbit in 2012.
Vietnamese living in islands or remote areas can now access Internet and watch television with quality picture.
The country is also working on expanding its sensing services with VNREDSat-1, which went into orbit in 2013. — VNS
