CMC Group launches R&D Institute

HA NOI (Biz Hub) – CMC Group announced on June 26 in Ha Noi, they were setting up an institute that would conduct research in technology applications and develop high tech products and services.

The research conducted by the CMC Institute of Research and Development (CIRD) would also help in improving the group's competitiveness.

The institute has a charter capital of VND5 billion and operating capital of VND100 billion. The capital would be mobilised from loans and donors.

Speaking at the ceremony, Nguyen Trung Chinh, the group's General Director, said CMC has clarified on the most important strategy to become a creative group.

According to international standards, the turnover of creative activities would have to account for 30 per cent of the companies.

"The institute has been a part of the strategy," Chinh said, adding that he expected that it would help the group to increase turnover from creative activities.

He added that the research and development activities should in the long-term and for taking risks.

The institute would focus on research and development of solutions on Social, Mobile, Analytic and Cloud (SMAC), security and information safety, software and services on cloud computing, value-added services relating to digital content and Internet TV. The development could help the group to take opportunities of new technology trends in the world such as five generation (5G), Internet of Things.

Nguyen Kim Cuong, Deputy General Director of CMC Software Solutions Company was appointed to head the institute.

CMC Group has striven to develop three strategic pillars including information and technology, telecommunications and eBusiness by developing creativity and enhancing research and development.

It would also focus on solutions for small-and-medium sized enterprises in the upcoming years, firewall and security solutions and digital content in Internet TV. — VNS
