DA NANG (Biz Hub) — The central city's Public Service information centre has launched the Vietnamese over-the-top (OTT) service, called Zalo, to provide public administrative information and procedures, following a one-year trial.

The centre director, Tran Ngoc Thach, said Zalo will offer an effective connection between the city's administration, local residents and businesses.

He noted that the system is a drastic measure, meant to boost administrative reforms and save time for public service users.

Using the network, service users will be able to monitor their processing of procedures at state agencies, with quick results and ease of use.

As scheduled, the Zalo switchboard will be available to provide information about storms, floods, and alerts about natural disasters, as well as information about new policies and documents from the city's administration, as well as other utilities.

According to the city's information and communications department, the city had provided 1,196 on-line administrative procedures, as 95 per cent of public employees can now work online.

IT applications have also been applied to various services, including one-stop shops, residential management, public transport and water supervision.

In 2014, the city launched e-Government systems to provide a Metropolitan Area Network (MAN), wireless internet, data centre and a centre for human training and research on IT applications.

The central city also agreed to expand participation in the city's E-government system to 16 cities and provinces, following an agreement signed earlier in 2015. — VNS
