HA NOI (Biz Hub) — Viet Nam has the third highest number of mobile phone users who have been attacked with malware, at 3.96 per cent.

According to a report of the Russian computer security company Kaspersky Lab, Russia tops the list with 40 per cent, followed by India with 8 per cent and Ukraine with 3.84 per cent.

The report also showed that nearly 145,000 new modifications of malicious programmes targeting mobile devices were detected in 2013. Until January 2014, the number of mobile phone malware discovered by Kaspersky Lab was 190,000. Around 98.1 per cent of the malware detected last year were targeted at Android devices.

Last year, 2,500 attempted infections caused by banking trojans were blocked. The company's analysts agreed that banking trojan was the most dangerous malware for users at this time. Trojans target Android phones because of the structural hole in the system and the rising number of users. At the beginning of 2013, Kaspersky Lab said they knew of 67 banking trojans, which increased to 1,321 by the end of the year.

Lab analyst Victor Chebyshev said that hackers will continue to exploit user bank accounts and the activity of banking trojans is expected to grow in many countries this year. — VNS
