HA NOI (Biz Hub) — Apple Inc. has chosen FPT Shop and The gioi di dong (Mobile World) as its two main retailers to directly import its hi-tech products from Apple Singapore.

Le Bach Diep, director general of FPT Shop said at a press conference in Ha Noi on August 25 that her firm would directly import iPhones and iPads from Apple.

In Apple's distribution map, Diep said Viet Nam was ranked in the third group in the system. The first one includes the United States, Japan and China, while the second has Singapore, Australia and Hong Kong. The first group would be accorded priority to bring in new products, followed by the second, and then the third.

With this deal, customers in Viet Nam can receive hi-tech Apple products sooner than before.

Earlier, in a talk with ictnews.vn, Doan Van Hieu Em from the gioi di dong said that from September his firm would no longer have to import through FPT Trading, which is the current distributor of Apple products for FPT Shop and The gioi di dong.

However, Em did not mention which products the company would import.

Despite being allowed to import products directly from Apple for sale at their own network, The gioi di dong and FPT Shop are not permitted to distribute Apple products to other dealers.

By choosing FPT Shop and The gioi di dong as its retailers, Apple wants to set up official retail channels which not only distribute products, but also take care of buyers, Diep said.

By August, FPT Shop had set up 220 stores specifically retailing technological products. — VNS
