HA NOI (Biz Hub) — Maintenance of the Asia-America Gateway (AAG) submarine cable will begin at 11pm on June 22 and be completed on June 28.
This will slow down the speed of international internet access through AAG in Viet Nam because of traffic restrictions.
During maintenance, popular services, such as Facebook, Google or international websites, will be difficult to access, but internet access to domestic websites will still remain stable, according to a telecom company in Viet Nam.
The AAG maintenance unit will reconfigure the resources system and weld optic cable segments, which connect Viet Nam with the United States and Hong Kong. The operations can resume on June 28.
The maintenance will affect customers who are using AAG cable lines of internet providers, such as VNPT, FPT and Viettel, in case they lack backup links that can serve as a replacement.
A network provider said it had prepared a plan to prioritise traffic for important services during maintenance by AAG.
AAG is a 20,000km-long submarine communications cable system connecting Southeast Asia with the United States. – VNS
