HA NOI (Biz Hub) — VinaPhone customers can now access 2G and 3G mobile network services on the Fansipan mountain in the northern Lao Cai province.
On January 14, the third-largest Vietnamese mobile operator announced that it has installed base transceiver stations at a height of 3,045m, covering an area of 3-4km radius, allowing a 3G connection speed of 42Mbps.
The availability of mobile network services is expected to reduce difficulties in transmitting leaders' directives for preventing forest fires, and in managing agricultural and forestry products. It will also ensure communication for life-saving activities on the mountain.
The 1,413m Fansipan, known as the Roof of Indochina, is located 9km southwest of Sapa Town in the Hoang Lien Son mountain range. It is one of the most attractive tourism spots in Viet Nam, luring thousands of national and international visitors every year. — VNS
