HA NOI (Biz Hub) – Vingroup commenced the construction of the tallest building in Viet Nam, the Landmark81, in HCM City on December 13.

The group said the 81-storey building, located in the centre of Vinhomes Central Park on Sai Gon River bank, is designed to reach 350m high. Moreover, the building aims to be a new icon of the city.

The building, spanning 141,000sq.m, will include functional spaces such as hotels, offices and apartments. It will also comprise shopping centres, restaurants, bars and an observation deck.

In particular, the five-star plus Vinpearl hotel will be offering 450 luxury rooms with a city view. A restaurant and a sky bar will be placed on the 66th and 67th floors, while an observation deck presenting a panoramic view of HCM City will be featured on the 79th floor.

The building will also be able to accommodate 900 apartments and offices for rent.

Vincom Shopping Centre, designed with an area of 59,000sq.m, will be located in the basement of the building. It will feature a large square with a fountain system positioned to face the Saigon River front.

The investor said The Landmark81 would not only break the record of the highest building in Viet Nam but also other records such as the highest observation deck in the country and the highest restaurant and bar in Southeast Asia.

The investor added that designers of the building include the Atkins Group, which designed the Bahrain World Trade Center, King Abdulaziz International Airport in Saudi Arabia and Lotus Hotel in Shanghai. Working with them is the Arup Group, which designed the Sydney Opera House and the Centre Pompidou in Paris.

Vingroup will use luxurious interior brands, such as Versace and Armani, to decorate the building.

The building is expected to be completed by 2017.— VNS
