Work starts on $100m Korean-invested factory in Ha Nam

HA NAM (Biz Hub) — Korean-invested KMW Vina Co Ltd began construction on May 13 of a US$100 million factory manufacturing telecommunications, radio engineering components and lighting equipment in the northern province of Ha Nam.

Covering over 30ha at Dong Van 1 Industrial Park in Duy Tien District, the factory is expected to produce 220,000 telecommunications and radio engineering devices and 380,0000 pieces of LED lighting equipment per year, as well as create jobs for 5,000 workers.

The factory is scheduled to begin operating by the end of 2015.

In his address at the groundbreaking ceremony, Deputy Prime Minister Hoang Trung Hai asked the KMW Vina Company to closely work with local authorities while carrying out the project, as well as employ and train workers for the factory.

Further, Provincial Party Committee Secretary Mai Tien Dung said the operation of the factory would not only help meet the demands of the local market, but also help to diversify the province's industrial products and generate jobs for local workers.

Ha Nam is home to 125 foreign direct investment enterprises, representing 10 countries and territories. In 2014, the province attracted 35 foreign invested projects, valued at $300 million in investment capital. — VNS
