Work begins on Viet Nam's first funicular railway

HA NOI (Biz Hub) — Construction began on Viet Nam's first funicular railway system on Ba Na Hill in the central port city of Da Nang on Friday.

According to Deputy Head of the Ba Na Management Department Le Huu Thang, the system will have two cabins capable of carrying 80 passengers each.

The carriages will travel at an average speed of 18 kilometres per hour along the 390m route and carry 1,600 passengers per hour. The system's equipment and technology were transferred by Switz company Garaventa.

The project is scheduled for completion in March next year. — VNS
