Vietnamese goods such as coffee, tea, footwear, confectionery, household utensils, wooden furniture and handsets are in the spotlight at the 55th Maputo International Fair (FACIM) that opened in Maputo, the capital of Mozambique on Monday.

The goods are being showcased by several Vietnamese firms including those from the Ministry of National Defence, Sunhouse JSC, Long Hung Co, and Movitel – a joint venture between Viet Nam’s Viettel Military Industry and Telecoms Group and SPI and Invespar companies of Mozambique.

According to the event's organisers, the fair is an opportunity for businesses to promote import and export co-operation, share experience in producing and processing agricultural products and consumer goods, and enhance ties in construction and mining.

During the event, Vietnamese Ambassador in Mozambique Le Huy Hoang introduced Vietnamese agricultural products and consumer goods to local enterprises and people.

He also touched upon regulations and procedures to connect businesses from the two countries.

Joao Feleciano Dichone Machava, Director of Industry and Trade of Mozambique’s Tete Province, expressed his hope the localities of Viet Nam and Tete would work together to develop agricultural products such as rice, peanuts, sesame and sugar.

FACIM is the largest annual fair in Mozambique, aiming to promote co-operation in production, investment and trade between the African nation and other countries.

This year’s event accommodates more than 2,000 booths set up by businesses from 22 countries. It will run until September 1. — VNS
