Vietnam Airlines has announced plans to address the supply problem in the aviation industry by increasing the number of night flights.

The airline intends to operate an additional 2,000 flights after 9pm daily on its routes to meet travel demand during the April 30 - May 1 holiday and the summer peak period.

The decision to increase night flights is driven by the shortage of aircraft in the aviation industry. By offering more choices and increasing flight capacity, Vietnam Airlines aims to accommodate the needs of passengers during this busy period.

The routes that will benefit from the additional flights include those between Hà Nội, HCM City, Đà Nẵng, Nha Trang and Quy Nhơn.

Vietnam Airlines has observed high occupancy rates on many tourist routes, with an index ranging from 70 per cent to 90 per cent during the first two days of the holiday (April 27-28). Some popular routes, such as Hà Nội – Huế, Chu Lai, Quy Nhơn, Đồng Hới and Nha Trang, as well as HCM City - Phú Quốc, Tuy Hòa, Đồng Hới, Đà Lạt and Vân Đồn, have already surpassed the halfway mark in terms of seat occupancy.

It is expected that the demand for flights from Hà Nội to Đà Nẵng and Phú Quốc will continue to increase significantly in the week leading up to the holiday. — VNS
