HA NOI (Biz Hub) - The Republic of Korea Aerospace Industries (KAI) is considering building a factory in the central port city of Da Nang to manufacture Airbus spare parts.
The city's Hi-Tech Park management board said KAI representatives had arrived in the city to inspect the proposed site as part of the decision-making process.
Deputy director of the park, Doan Ngoc Hung Anh said there was no investment contract to sign but the park had 100ha of land ready for the investor.
In 2010, European Aeronautic Defense and Space Company (EADS), Airbus Manufacturer (AIB) and Korean Aerospace Industry (KAI) visited the city on an inspection tour.
Authorities said the city was considering a strategic location with an international seaport and a concentration of highly qualified labour.
If the factory is built in Danang, it will be the second aeronautical project in Viet Nam.
In 2009, Japanese Mitsubishi Heavy Industries built a factory in Hoa Lac Hi-Tech Park in the capital city to manufacture wings for Boeing aircraft. - VNS
