KUALA LUMPUR (Biz Hub)— Viet Nam's export turnover to Malaysia reached US$1.97 billion in the first five months of this year, a 23.2 per cent rise against the same period last year.
Key exports to Malaysia in the reviewed period include crude oil ($493.5 million), computers, electronic components and products ($415.2 million), telephones and components ($264.5 million) and rubber ($148.8 million).
Viet Nam's imports from Malaysia in the first five months were around $1.7 billion, up 26 per cent from last year's figure, bringing two-way trade turnover in the reviewed period to $3.67 billion.
The main goods imported from Malaysia were computers ($348.5 million), oil and gas ($259.9 million), animal and vegetable oil ($159.2 million), crude oil ($132.1 million) and plastic materials ($109.5 million).
According to the Foreign Investment Agency under the Ministry of Planning and Investment, Malaysia has 441 investment projects in Viet Nam with a total registered capital of $10.21 billion.
