DA NANG (Biz Hub) — The central city and Toyota Mobility Foundation (TMF) signed an agreement to improve the city's urban transport and travel services between July 2015 and March 2018.

The city's department of foreign affairs told Viet Nam News that TMF has agreed to give US$2.86 million for building the city's internal bus services, public car parking areas, bus stops and shuttle bus routes connecting residential quarters and public destinations.

The three-year agreement will be a model for TMF's traffic improvement projects in Viet Nam.

Da Nang plans to build the city's Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) network and new roads, and to revamp the drainage system under the US$272.1-million project, of which $202.4 million will be provided by the World Bank.

According to TMF, the central city is a medium-sized Asian city that is undergoing rapid development, and is situated at one end of the East-West Economic Corridor that links Myanmar, Thailand, Laos and Viet Nam.

The central city is Viet Nam's fourth largest city and is widely admired by other cities for its planning, governance and infrastructure. — VNS
