Samsung Viet Nam, in collaboration with the Ministry of Industry and Trade (MoIT), on Tuesday launched a training programme for fostering Vietnamese consultants to improve the production efficiency of local enterprises in 2019, thus gradually meeting the requirements of global supply chains.
Speaking at the event, Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Do Thang Hai said that this year’s training programme includes four courses, including two in Ha Noi and two in HCM City. Compared with those of 2018, each course has one more week of practice, which means that participants are provided with theory on quality control and production management during the first four weeks, followed by nine weeks of practice at enterprises.
This year, more than 100 consultants are expected to join the training courses, raising the total beneficiaries to 200 after two years as committed in a memorandum of understanding signed between Samsung Viet Nam and the MoIT in March 2018. Sixty outstanding trainees out of the 200 will be sent to South Korea for advanced training courses.
Choi Joo-ho, Samsung Viet Nam’s General Director, expressed his hope that after 13 weeks of training, trainees can become pioneers in innovation and renovation at enterprises, thus contributing to the development of Viet Nam’s support industry.
"The success of the 2018 consultant training programme is a motivation for us to continue to promote and make appropriate adjustments to bring higher efficiency in the 2019 Program.
“Samsung Viet Nam is always committed to play a leading role to develop Viet Nam’s support industry,” he said.
According to the MoIT, the programme helped train 95 Vietnamese consultants in the field of support industry in 2018. The first advanced course for 14 prominent consultants was organised in South Korea in March 2019.
Along with the collaboration of the Vietnamese Government to develop the support industry, Samsung is constantly improving the localisation rate by actively finding and connecting with local suppliers in Viet Nam. In 2018, 35 Vietnamese enterprises held roles as Samsung’s tier-1 suppliers and the number is expected to increase to 42 in 2019 and 50 enterprises in 2020. — VNS
