HA NOI (Biz Hub) — The Russian Federal Service for Veterinary and Phytosanitary Surveillance (FSVPS) on October 20 started inspecting six Vietnamese seafood enterprises that are expected to export their products to Russia.

According to the Viet Nam National Agro-Forestry-Fisheries Quality Assurance Department (NAFIQAD), Russian inspectors will carry out their examination till October 30.

The enterprises include Tin Thinh Ltd, Vinh Nguyen Ltd and the Kien Giang Seafood JSC's KISIMEX Rach Gia factory, as well as Vinh Hoan JSC's Factory No 3, Viet An JSC's An Thinh Factory and Foodtech JSC.

Earlier this year, the FSVPS website had mentioned some of the products that had microbial contamination and residues of pharmacological drugs, following Russian laboratory checks of fish products imported from Viet Nam last December. Seafood products from Viet Nam were then banned.

In September, Russia lifted the ban on seafood exported by 10 Vietnamese companies after examining their aquaculture and processing activities.

Currently, 41 seafood enterprises expect to export their products to Russia. Viet Nam had exported $103.3 million worth of seafood products to Russia in 2013. — VNS
