Some 2,500 private firms will have a chance to voice their opinions and proposals to Party and Government officials at the Viet Nam Private Economic Forum scheduled for May 2 and 3 in Ha Noi.

The information was announced by the Party Central Committee's Economic Commission at a press meeting held in the capital on Friday.

The forum aims to review the implementation of a resolution on making the private sector an important part of the socialist-oriented market economy in Viet Nam over the past two years.

The forum will include a plenary session, chaired by leaders of the Government, the Party Central Committee's Economic Commission and the National Assembly.

Six seminars are set to take place, revolving around attracting wealthy tourists to stay for longer in Viet Nam; establishing agro-foretry-fishery chains of high commercial value; and developing the digital economy and new business models; among others.

The commission has also planned a conference for female entrepreneurs and an exhibition on the achievements of outstanding private firms and investment connectivity activities.

Deputy head of the commission Nguyen Huu Nghia said Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc and head of the Party Central Committee's Economic Commission Nguyen Van Binh would collect feedback from about 500 outstanding private companies nationwide and several reports from ministries and sectors to build a report on the development of Viet Nams private sector over the past two years.

All scale of businesses would be able to join the event from big groups to small and micro firms as well as both domestic and foreign companies.

Business and investment connection activities will be held on May 3. An exhibition to showcase the economic achievements of the private sector is expected to attract around 3,000 people.

The Viet Nam Private Economic Forum is being organised by the Government, the Party Central Committee's Economic Commission, the Board for Private Economic Reseach and Development and e-newspaper Vnexpress and IEC Group. — VNS
