The Viet Nam National Heart Association on Thursday signed an agreement with Merck Export GMBH Viet Nam to implement the Continuing Medical Education Program New Concept programme for the 2019-2021 term.

The programme is the next step of the Continuing Medical Education Program Concept for 2016-2018, with the same objective to narrow the treatment gap at medical centers for common cardiovascular diseases in the community such as hypertension, coronary artery disease and chronic heart failure.

They also will maintain the website www.01Minh.com., which was set up last May.

Viet Nam was chosen as the first country to pilot the programme. Its success has proven how important the platform was to the beneficiary.

Dr Nguyen Lan Viet, standing vice president of the Viet Nam National Heart Association, said that health awareness and education programmes were a must for healthcare professions and patients.

A healthy population is an asset that can fuel the growth of societies and economies at large, Viet said, adding that this could only be achieved by sustained collaboration through public-private partnership’s across stakeholders such as scientific societies, health authorities and industry. — VNS
