A shipment of 15 modules of locally-made equipment has been sent to the United Arab Emirates (UAE) for installation at the Ruwais Refinery in Abu Dhabi, the Korean manufacturing firm Doosan Heavy Industries Viet Nam (Doosan Vina) said.
It’s the final shipment that Doosan Vina signed with Samsung Engineering Company supplying modules for the Ruwais Refinery project in Abu Dhabi since 2018. The first 12 modules, which were completed in six months, were shipped to the project last year.
The locally manufactured giant modules, which were loaded at the Dung Quat Port in the central Quang Ngai Province’s Dung Quat Economic Zone on March 25, will perform the task of increasing flexibility in crude oil processing when the Ruwais Refinery comes into operation, it said.
“Modularisation is currently one of the optimal solutions that many investors choose when building industrial plants. This way, they can easily accelerate schedule and improve quality as well as minimise risks and control the field construction costs,” Doosan Vina General Director Jeong Young Chil said.
“Currently, we have enough capacity, well-arranged infrastructure and equipment to manufacture modules at any required size and weight. Our production capacity can reach 20,000 tons per year,” CEO Jeong added.
To date, Doosan Vina has supplied 39 modules of waste heat recovery equipment and crude flexibility projects with a total weight of 5,516 tonnes for Samsung Engineering since their framework agreement was inked in June 2018.
Many local mega infrastructure products including boilers, desalination plants, cranes, structural steel, buildings and infrastructure developments have been exported to 35 countries.
Doosan Vina has been a reliable supplier of power plant boilers for projects such as Mong Duong 2, Vinh Tan 4, Song Hau 1, Vinh Tan 4 Extension and has played an important role in localising the mechanical industry in Viet Nam.
The company employs 2,500 workers at its plants in the Dung Quat Economic Zone, and has earned an export turnover of US$2.4 billion. — VNS
