The HCM City Department of Industry and Trade and local business associations have organised several international agriculture fairs at Phu Tho Stadium in District 11 from June 19 to 22.
Nguyen Phuong Dong, deputy chairman of the department, said the fairs have a total of 200 booths and are expected to attract more than 100 domestic and international enterprises from South Korea, Japan, China, Malaysia and other countries.
The fairs are displaying advanced technology, equipment and agriculture products. Businesses and investors will be able to network and promote their goods to foreign markets.
Dong said that last year the country's agricultural export turnover reached the highest level in the last 10 years, with US$ 40.2 billion. Viet Nam exports agricultural products to more than 180 countries and targets US$43 billion this year.
The Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership, which took effect on January 14, is expected to help Vietnamese agricultural products achieve the export target. To reach the target, Dong said that enterprises should improve the quality of goods, ensure standards in the production process, use high-tech methods, and build brands for agricultural products. — VNS
