HA NOI (Biz Hub) — Ha Noi will play host to one of the biggest events in advertising and marketing, the Asian Advertising Congress (AdAsia), between November 11 and 14 at the National Convention Centre.
This year's AdAsia will mark the 28th congress with the theme "Re-engineer Advertising" and will be the first time the event has been held in Viet Nam.
"This is an honour for Viet Nam to host such an event. Nearly 400 international guests have registered to attend the congress, with around 200 from Taiwan, 70 from India and the rest from all over the world," Dinh Quang Ngu, president of the Viet Nam Advertising Association (VAA), said at a press conference on Tuesday.
Viet Nam joined the Asian Federation of Advertising Association (AFAA) in 2007. Ngu, former Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism is also the vice president of the AFAA- the organiser behind the event.
AdAsia will bring high-powered speakers like Yahoo's Senior Vice President of the Asia Pacific, Rose Tsou; Manchester United's managing director in Asia, Jamie Reigle and Hermawan Kartajaya, President of the World Marketing Association.
Faris Abouhamad, President of the International Advertising Association (IAA), and Tatsuyoshi Takashima, President of Dentsu corporation, one of the founders and sponsors of AdAsia, will also speak at the event.
According to Tran Hung, General Director of Vietnam AdAsia Event Joint Stock Company and deputy head of the organising board, advertising has seen strong growth in Viet Nam in recent years, worth an estimated US$1 billion annually.
"That is a modest number in comparison with other countries in the region and the world, but it represents growth in the advertising and marketing of Viet Nam," said Hung.
He also added that although outdoor advertising had declined, advertising across all media had increased between 15-17 per cent this year.
This year's AdAsia will feature side-line events including a series of aerostat performances called Asian Wings in Ha Noi, Ha Nam, Nam Dinh, Hai Duong, Quang Ninh; and several photo exhibitions and art perfomances. — VNS
