HA NOI (Biz Hub) ― The Government Inspectorate will check on finance management at the Viet Nam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI), according to Deputy Chief Inspector Tran Duc Luong.

Making the announcement at the VCCI headquarters last Friday, Luong said the inspectorate would also check on the construction of the VCCI's headquarters while also looking into the agency's investments during the 2006-12 period.

He said this was an unscheduled inspection in accordance with a directive from Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung.

A group of inspectors led by Department IV deputy head Hoang Duc Vinh will be responsible for the inspection.

Luong said the inspection was to be carried out within 40 working days after the decision was announced. He also asked the chamber to co-ordinate closely and provide adequate information to authorities.

VCCI vice chairman Doan Duy Khuong told the Biz Hub on Monday that chairman Vu Tien Loc was the spokesman on this matter, but Loc couldn't be reached for comment.

At an executive board meeting late last week, VCCI officials said the chamber had accomplished major missions in the first half of the year, with the agency's operations being continually improved.

But the chamber was facing certain difficulties as budgets for implementing tasks had been slashed.

"Some major programmes and projects to support enterprises have been implemented tardily due to a lack of resources," the chamber wrote on its website. ― VNS
