Garment 10 Joint Stock Company (Garco 10) plans to bring its textile products to Japan through Uniqlo and Aeon.
The move is part the company’s plans for this year and beyond, according to Than Duc Viet, deputy general director of Garco 10.
"We are launching together with our partners, fashion brands and leading retailers in Japan to sign export contracts for Uniqlo, Aeon and long-term business plans with new partners,” Viet added.
Garco 10 and Uniqlo are beginning the first steps for this brand to export goods to Japan.
Uniqlo is known as a Japanese designer, manufacturer and retailer of casual wear, on the top tier of the Tokyo Stock Exchange.
The company currently has 836 stores in Japan, 416 in China, 39 in the US and 27 in Europe. Uniqlo’s products are portable and widely sold in Viet Nam.
In addition to Uniqlo, the Aeon retailer is also partnering with Garco 10.
Hoang Huong Giang, head of Garco 10’s market division number 2 confirmed that the company recently held a meeting with Aeon purchasing teams in Japan.
Garco 10 has worked with Aeon before, so advancing the co-operation will be smooth. Maybe Garco 10 will make garments with private label for Aeon to sell in the system.
“Aeon has about 300 supermarkets, if each supermarket can provide 50 types of products, this plan has potential”, Giang added.
Garco 10’s export turnover to Japan accounts for more than 12 per cent of the company’s total export turnover, with the firm earning VND2.9 trillion (US$129 million) in revenue last year, rising 6.42 per cent compared to 2015.
Garco 10 operates 18 factories and has 12,000 employees, spanning eight provinces and cities. — VNS
