Construction of a new terminal at Da Nang International Airport is mostly completed and a trial operation is scheduled for April 25-28, said Le Khac Hong, General Director of the Da Nang International Terminal Investment and Operation on Monday.

Accordingly, the construction will be officially completed on April 10, followed by check-ups on the next day.

After the four-day trial operation period, the terminal is projected to serve the first flight on May 8. All flights will be transferred to the new facility between May 9 and 15.

The Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam has joined hands with the ministries of Transport and Construction to complete procedures for the new terminal’s operation.

As one of key infrastructure projects in Da Nang, the construction of the international terminal at Da Nang Airport began in November 2015 with a total investment of over VND3.5 trillion (US$154 million).

Upon its completion, the airport will be able to receive six million passengers per year and serve 1,600 passengers in peak hours.

The Da Nang Airport is the third largest international airport in Viet Nam after the Noi Bai International Airport in Ha Noi in northern Viet Nam and Tan Son Nhat in the southern economic hub of HCM City. It is an important gateway to the central region. — VNS
