HCM CITY (Biz Hub) — Cisco and the Management Authority for Urban Railways (MAUR) signed an agreement on June 11 to conduct a feasibility study for an Integrated Telecommunications Control Center for HCM City Urban Railways.
The study, with funding of US$1.5 million, is being undertaken through a grant from the US Trade and Development Agency.
The study will focus on communications technologies for the control center for HCM City's metro rail system.
The project starts in June and is expected to be completed in November.
The project aims to establish a strategic ICT plan, which MAUR will use to build the telecommunications control system.
The plan's aim is to improve operational efficiency and management, and provide seamless operation and connectivity with other public transportation systems such as buses, taxis and waterway transport.
Cisco will provide consulting services, ICT architecture recommendations, and technical standards and guidelines, and submit an implementation proposal, to help realize MAUR's vision for HCM Urban Railways.
Bui Xuan Cuong, director of MAUR, said the project was an important part of the strategic development of our urban railway systems starting with the readiness of the Metro 1 Ben Thanh-Suoi Tien line, which is scheduled to operate in 2020.
Luong Thi Le Thuy, general director of Cisco Viet Nam, said the project would further collaborative efforts between Cisco and MAUR on the development of ICT infrastructure. — VNS
