Hung Nhon Export Trading Ltd. and Netherlands-based De Heus Animal Nutrition Co. Ltd. Vietnam have signed a contract to produce clean, certified food products for the domestic and export markets.

The US$50 million clean food project, to be set up in Binh Phuoc and Dong Nai provinces, aims to supply quality-checked, clean and certified food products from an input-to-output closed product chain.

The six agricultural products in the project include pork, poultry, eggs, vegetables, fruits and fertilisers.

The project is expected to produce three million chicken for meat, one million egg-laying hens, 1,600 sows and 15,000 pigs per annum, in addition to 900 tonnes of vegetables and fruits.

The process of origin tracing in the agricultural sector is a costly affair but necessary for the growing market, and modern farming projects should attain Good Agricultural Practice assurance standards for sustainable development and stable revenue, Gabour Fluit, general director of De Heus said.

De Heus will be responsible for breeding stocks, cattle and poultry feeds and for providing managerial knowledge to ensure quality. It will also supply Hung Nhon with its own experienced workers to help Hung Nhon’s workers and oversee operations.

The project includes the participation of Netherlands-based Fresh Studio Innovations Asia and Belgium-based Bel Ga LLC. — VNS
