The capital city of Ha Noi has granted certification to 275 products which qualify for the standards of the One Commune-One Product (OCOP) programme at a conference on Friday.
The event aims to honour producers, connect the trade of OCOP products into supermarkets and shops for buyers to identify and consume.
Previously, the city recognised 26 OCOP products at the end of last year, bringing the total number of certified products to 301.
Of which, six products achieved five-star potential, 207 four-star products and 88 three-star products.
Ha Noi has 1,350 craft villages, accounting for the largest number of craft villages nationwide.
Of these, 309 trade villages and traditional villages have been recognised by the municipal people's committee, while many products have been exported to international markets.
Through the implementation of the OCOP programme, the city found that the development of OCOP products still faces a number of difficulties.
Many products are still produced on a small scale. Some key products have not built a brand and consumption is still at a low value.
Many of the products participating in the contest, despite good quality, have incomplete product information such as a lack of business and production plans as well as environmental protection plans and proof of origin.
Continuing to effectively implement the OCOP programme, the city would focus on increasing trade promotion activities to bring OCOP products into supermarkets and safe agricultural product shops, handicraft shops, and e-commerce trading floors, said Chu Phu My, director of the Ha Noi Department of Agriculture and Rural Development.
“The city will upgrade the software for agricultural food traceability and website nongthonmoihanoi.gov.vn, build management software, evaluate and classify OCOP products synchrononised from city to district and commune levels,” said My.
At the same time, the city would support OCOP packaging design, continue to deploy more events to display, promote and connect trade for OCOP products, he added. — VNS
