Chairman of HCM Stock Exchange (HOSE)’s Board of Directors Tran Van Dung was appointed as the new chairman of the State Securities Commission of Viet Nam (SSC) on Wednesday.

Dung was assigned to the Chairmanship of HOSE on November 1, 2016, by the Minister of Finance. He also held posts at the State Bank of Viet Nam, the SSC, as well as the chairman and general director of the Hanoi Stock Exchange (HNX) in the period between 2012 and 2015.

Dung and his partners laid the foundation for securities, including Government bonds and the stock exchange, the unlisted public company market (UPCoM), and the derivatives market in Viet Nam. He is one of the few people responsible for the foundation and management of the HNX, since its inception in 2009.

Dung is set to replace HOSE former Chairman Tran Dac Sinh, who retired in May. — VNS
