Saigon Securities Incorporation changed its name to SSI Securities Corporation on its 18th anniversary on Tuesday.
The company said this was a necessary step to enhance its brand identity since SSI has gradually become a valuable brand now worth US$30.8 million, making it the only securities company among Forbes’s Viet Nam’s 40 Most Valuable Brands.
The name change would also facilitate its future business activities not only in Viet Nam but also the regional and global markets, it said.
The first private securities company, started with a charter capital of VND6 billion ($257,645), has, in 18 years, become the largest in the country, with its capital increasing by more than 800 times to over VND5 trillion ($241.69 million) and total assets to $1 billion.
The company has 14 branches in all the country’s major cities like Ha Noi, HCM City, Hai Phong, Nha Trang and Vung Tau.
Ending September, its net profit reached $60.8 million, the highest for a securities company in Southeast Asia. — VNS
