HÀ NỘI — Shares gained slightly on Monday morning fueled by the growth of blue-chips in banking and securities sectors.
The benchmark VN-Index on the Ho Chi Minh Stock Exchange rose 0.06 per cent to close at 871.76 points.
The index had gained a total of 2.78 per cent last week.
Nearly 126.8 million shares were traded on the southern market, worth VNĐ2.1 trillion (US$91 million).
The VN30 Index, which tracks the performance of the 30 largest stocks by market capitalisation and liquidity on HoSE, increased 0.05 per cent to close Monday morning at 809.46 points.
Gainers in the VN-30 basket were Bao Viet Holdings (BVH), Vietinbank (CTG), PetroVietnam Gas JSC (GAS), FPT Corporation (FPT) and Masan Group (MSN).
Pillars in banking and securities group also outperformed, including Vietinbank (CTG), Techcombank (TCB), Vietcombank (VCB), VietCapital Securities (VCI), FPT Securities (FPT) and HCM City Securities (HCM).
On the Ha Noi Stock Exchange, the HNX-Index was up 0.24 per cent to end Monday morning at 115.39 points.
Nearly 20.4 million shares were traded on the northern market, worth VNĐ212.9 billion.
