HA NOI (Biz Hub) — The Vietnam Seafood Festival 2014 will provide participants an opportunity to partner in economics, investments, trade and tourism promotions, with 12 large events planned from March 28 to April 2. This was stated by the People's Committee of the southern province of Phu Yen, who will host the event, at a press briefing in Ho Chi Minh City on February 16.

Under the theme "Vietnamese Seafood-Integration and Development," the festival aims to honour the craft of seafood farming and fishing, especially tuna fishing, which contributes to the nation's economy and protects its sovereignty.

The event also offers a chance for seafood businesses to enhance their connectivity, while introducing and promoting the tangible and intangible cultural values of Vietnam's coastal areas.

A highlight of the festival will be a ceremony marking the 55th anniversary of Vietnam's seafood sector. A seafood industry trade fair and exhibition for the central southern coastal region is being eagerly anticipated.

A seminar will be held to discuss ways to boost sustainable development in the sector, together with a conference to review three years of the implementation of Vietnam's aquatic development strategy until 2020. — VNS
