The Singapore Trade Seminar 2025 aims to promote bilateral business cooperation, trade and services within the rapidly growing global Halal market.

HÀ NỘI — The Việt Nam-Singapore Halal Trade Seminar 2025 will take place on May 24, according to the Vietnam Trade Office in Singapore.
The event aims to promote bilateral business cooperation, trade and services in the Halal products industry, a market that is growing rapidly.
The event will be organised by the Trade Office in Singapore, in coordination with Vietnam Halal Certification Authority (HALCERT), unit under the Vietnam Certification Centre (QUACERT), Maybank Singapore and Dawn Horizon Pte Ltd.
Participants will include Vietnamese and Singaporean businesses, organisations and individuals operating in the Halal industry in Việt Nam and Singapore, appearing both in-person and online formats.
The Muslim market currently has over two billion people, accounting for about 25 per cent of the total global population. In particular, Muslims make up the majority in the Asian region, especially in the ASEAN region.
In recent years, the demand for Halal products has been increasing and becoming a global trend.
A report by the Food and Agriculture Organisation of the United Nations (FAO) shows that the global Muslim community's spending on Halal food is increasing, currently reaching nearly US$2 trillion and will soon increase to $15 trillion by 2050.
Meanwhile, Việt Nam is considered to have great potential to export Halal food, ranking in the top 20 food exporting countries in the world and is one of the 15 largest agricultural exporting countries globally.
However, Việt Nam's Halal product exports are still very modest. Although its export capacity is in the top 20 in the world, Việt Nam is not yet on the list of 20-30 countries supplying Halal food globally.
To boost the production, processing and export of professional Halal products, in 2023, the Prime Minister issued Decision No. 10/QD-TTg approving the Project 'Strengthening international cooperation to build and develop Việt Nam's Halal industry by 2030'.
It provided a major national orientation on mobilising international resources to build and develop Việt Nam's Halal industry professionally and comprehensively, helping Vietnamese enterprises participate deeply and effectively in the global Halal product production and supply chain.
HALCERT, unit under the Vietnam Certification Centre (QUACERT), which is part of the Commission for standards, Metrology and quality of Việt Nam, was also established, contributing to the unification of State management of Halal certification, creating favourable conditions and helping Vietnamese enterprises save costs when joining the global Halal market. — VNS
