With the growth of the semiconductor industry in the Asia-Pacific region and the uncertainties of geopolitical events, a series of webinars about the topic will be hosted from February 28 by Mavek and SAP.
The four-part seminar series, entitled “The Global Semiconductor Chip Wars & Implications”, will provide insights into the future of the semiconductor industry, key strategies and countermeasures to get ahead of the competition during the global chip war and supply chain relocations.
The first webinar features keynote speakers such as Clyde Prestowitz, President of the Economist Strategy Institute, Dr Paula Stern (former US International Trade Commission Chairwoman), and James Khoo, partner at Mavek.
With a favourable political and economic environment, Viet Nam is a potential hub for the electronics and semiconductor market, said James Khoo.
“The current political and economic situations favour Viet Nam, an emerging manufacturing powerhouse, and I believe that Viet Nam is poised to capture the opportunities to become a more technologically advanced nation.”
The electronics industry of Viet Nam has seen good progress in recent years, with the recent plan of Samsung to produce semiconductors with an additional investment of US$920 million. The country is also home to Intel’s largest assembly and testing factory with an investment of $1.5 billion.
The webinars' topics are “US CHIPS & Science Act Overview and Responses from Key Countries” on February 28, “China’s Semiconductor Strategies and Responses to the US” on March 28, “Stances and Prospective Actions on the Global Chip War - Japan, Netherlands, Taiwan, and Korea” on April 25, and “Strategies for Developments in ASEAN Semiconductor Industries” on May 30. — VNS
