The Viet Nam Fisheries international Exhibition 2019 (Vietfish 2019) will be held from August 29 to 31 at Sai Gon Exhibition and Convention Centre, HCM City.

The event will feature over 340 booths from 15 countries and territories such as South Korea, Japan, Germany, Singapore, mainland China and Taiwan.

With the message “Asia’s Home of Seafood”, Vietfish seeks to connect domestic and foreign seafood producers and processors, where buyers can find a tremendous variety of offerings ranging from live to frozen and value-added products.

According to the Viet Nam Association of Seafood Exporters and Producers (VASEP), Vietfish 2019 takes place as Viet Nam's seafood market is in a booming period; the market is diversified in products and services, constantly updating the latest technologies and keeping the growth rate constant and stable over the years.

The organisation of the exhibition is an important basis for the fisheries industry and domestic and foreign enterprises to connect and help the Vietnamese seafood industry expand.

Vietfish 2019 is expected to attract 17,000 visitors and will be an important factor in the growth of Viet Nam's fisheries industry.

In addition to the expected growth, the positioning of Vietnamese seafood in the global market has seen positive changes, VASEPsaid.

World consumers increasingly appreciate Vietnamese seafood products because of stable supply and food safety. Therefore, maintaining and developing Vietfish to become a trade bridge between Vietnamese and world enterprises is the top goal of the organising committee.

According to the report of the Directorate of Fisheries, Viet Nam’s seafood export turnover in 2018 reached nearly US$9 billion, accounting for 22.5 per cent of the total export turnover of the entire agricultural sector. — VNS
