The Mekong Beauty Show will be held at the Sai Gon Exhibition and Convention Centre in HCM City on June 14.
The show will display eco-friendly organic cosmetic products to consumers.
The three-day event is expected to attract more than 200 international and local cosmetics exhibitors, including those from the European Union, the Republic of Korea (South Korea), Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia and Japan.
According to a forecast by the International Monetary Fund, the sub-Mekong region, as an emerging market for cosmetic products and comprising Viet Nam, Cambodia, Laos and Myanmar, has experienced a growth of 30 per cent in cosmetics consumption in recent years. The beauty show will provide a platform to link businesses in the region.
At a press conference on Tuesday to introduce the show, Claudia Bonfiglioli, general manager of Informa Beauty, said Viet Nam had huge potential to develop natural and organic cosmetic products. But the country still lacked programmes to connect enterprises in the sector, she said, adding Informa Beauty had set up clubs for Vietnamese distributors and retailers and built connection with the Vietnam Essential Oil Association.
Meanwhile, Bui Ngoc Quynh Giao, brand manager of Illahui Viet Nam, said his company had developed convenience stores in the country to sell organic beauty products. Many local firms have considered branching out natural cosmetic products as they believe it will help the Vietnamese cosmetic sector to create a breakthrough in future. — VNS
