The organisers of the world's largest sourcing event for children, baby and maternity products in China next month have announced an increase in exhibition space by 10 per cent this year to meet demand.

As China adapts to the new law, allowing couples to have more than one child, more families plan to have a second child, Athena Gong, general manager of CBME China, said.

"This enables China's baby and maternity industry to continue to have very steady growth.

"With the increased consumption and demand for baby items, more suppliers are now in the market."

To further accommodate the demand for space, the Shanghai International Children Baby Maternity Industry Expo (2016 CBME China) from July 20 to 22 will move to a newer state-of-the-art facility, the National Exhibition Convention Center in Hongqiao, Shanghai.

Occupying a total of 223,305sq.m, this year's event will be bigger and better than ever with 2,250 exhibitors showcasing their latest innovations and best quality products, including fashion items.

"With the move to the new venue and the increase in exhibition scale, CBME China is carefully categorised into themed areas to make sourcing easier for buyers," Gong said.

International pavilions will feature brands from Australia, Korea, the UK, France, the US, Spain, Singapore, Taiwan, Thailand, and others. They cover a range of children, baby and maternity products from healthcare items to food, strollers, toys, clothing and accessories, and services.

With over 3,000 top local and international brands exhibiting at the fair, the majority of them have chosen CBME China to debut their latest products.

Participating companies include A2, aus Ttbaby, B., B&B, BABiBOO, BATTAT, Babybio, Celia, CANDIA, Dorel, Fisher-Price, Garfied, Goo.N, HABA, Hape, Kiddy, Little Tikes, Mattel, Micro, Munchkin, Naladan, NUK, Pigeon, Plantoys, and more.

Other highlights at the event include Cool Kids Fashion, an exclusive kids fashion show for Spanish clothing brands, Innovative Products Awards Gallery, CBME Awards Gallery, Education Programme, private Buyers Meetings and a Charity Programme.

Many new brands are expected to turn up this year.
