Indochina Kajima Development on Tuesday held a topping out ceremony for the Wink Hotel Hai Phong in the northern port city of Hải Phòng.

Indochina Kajima Development’s Wink Hotel Hai Phong has marked a significant milestone on its journey to a stylish mid-2025 debut.

Wink Hotel Hai Phong rises 22 stories high at 135 Điện Biên Phủ Street in the heart of Hồng Bàng District, with an additional level underground.

Spanning an impressive 16,000sq.m, the hotel will boast 225 stylish rooms and 77 suites, setting a new standard in the "affordable luxury" market.

“This milestone isn't just about reaching new heights in construction; it's about elevating the hospitality experience in Việt Nam, as we celebrate this momentous occasion - the topping-off of Wink Hotel Hai Phong, our sixth property in this dynamic Wink Hotels journey,” said Peter Ryder, Executive Chairman of Indochina Capital.

He added that Wink Hotel Hai Phong stands as the sixth hotel with a total investment of US$50 million as well as the $50 million more they are putting into their Core5 Hai Phong industrial property development reflects Indochina Kajima’s unwavering commitment to this vibrant port city and its promising future.

Hải Phòng is making tourism a key part of its 2020-25 development strategy, aiming to become a top Vietnamese destination. Its plans include luxury cruise ships at its upgraded port, world-class golf courses, and vibrant food tours showcasing local specialties like crab spring rolls and red noodle crab soup. With international tourist arrivals in Việt Nam rising sharply in early 2024, Hải Phòng is not just seeking to increase visitor numbers but to redefine its global identity by balancing economic growth with cultural and environmental sustainability.

Michael Piro, Co-Founder & CEO of Wink Hotels, said: “In the first half of 2024, Hải Phòng welcomed over 8.8 million international tourists, a 58 per cent increase compared to the same period last year, surpassing the pre-COVID level of 8.5 million visitors. This indicates a positive recovery trend in tourism.”

As Hải Phòng steps into the spotlight, it's not just aiming to boost tourist numbers. The city is crafting a new identity on the global stage, one that balances economic growth with cultural preservation and sustainable tourism. In doing so, Hải Phòng is positioning itself not just as a destination, but as a microcosm of Việt Nam's bright future.
