Vietnam Airlines (VNA) and Vietnam Posts and Telecommunications Group (VNPT) have inked a cooperation agreement to introduce in-flight internet connection services, also known as InFlight Connectivity (IFC).
This collaboration represents a significant milestone in Vietnam Airlines' digital transformation and service enhancement journey.
Under the agreement, Vietnam Airlines plans to initially implement in-air internet connectivity on select aircraft by 2025, focusing on international flights to destinations such as the US and Europe, as well as some domestic flights. Subsequently, the deployment will extend to cover the remaining aircraft and flights starting from 2026.
VNPT, in collaboration with Vietnam Airlines, will play a crucial role in developing a roadmap for implementation, completing necessary procedures, installing hardware, setting up software, and providing operational support for the in-flight internet connectivity services.
With the advancements in technology, it is anticipated that the in-flight internet network of Vietnam Airlines will offer speeds of up to 60 Mbps. This enhanced service will enable passengers to engage in various activities during their flight, such as texting with friends, listening to podcasts, reading books, and watching movies, catering to their individual preferences and needs. — VNS
