Vinsmart, a member of the property and retail conglomerate Vingroup JSC, on Monday announced a strategic co-operation agreement with the Italian industrial design firm Pininfarina.

Under the agreement, the two sides will build a design specified for the new generation of Vsmart smartphone brands, including form, screen and operating language.

Vsmart products bearing the Pininfarina brand will have a trendy design and visually appealing standby display screen. Product packaging, unlocking method and internal component arrangement are also intelligently and consistently designed to ensure the users have a convenient experience.

Vsmart smartphones using the new design are expected to be launched in 2020.

Pininfarina is among the world’s leading design studios in the field of industrial and architectural design. The company is involved in more than 600 projects receiving many prestigious awards and is the designer of many famous industrial and technology products worldwide.

“Pininfarina designed two VinFast car models, VinFast Lux SUV and VinFast Lux Sedan, helping build the reputation of VinFast and Vingroup at the Paris Motor Show 2018. Therefore, we expect Pininfarina to repeat this feat with VinSmart to jointly launch the new smartphone products with superior quality and beauty,” said Tran Minh Trung, Deputy General Director of VinSmart Research and Production Company.

Earlier, VinSmart announced co-operation with other leading names such as Qualcomm and Google to bring leading technologies and optimal experience to its product.

VinSmart now has a strong growth rate, reaching 16.7 per cent of the domestic smartphone market share after only 15 months of first product launch. — VNS
