VinCommerce, the grocery retail subsidiary of conglomerate Masan, is selling Luc Ngan lychee from Bac Giang Province at its more than 2,500 VinMart supermarkets and VinMart+ convenience stores nation-wide.

The fruit is being sold at a promotional price of VND26,900 (US$1.17) per kilogramme until June 15.

It will be soon available at VinMart store on e-commerce platform Lazada.

A VinCommerce spokesperson said the lychees are bought, preserved and packaged in compliance with stringent standards at VinMart's warehouses to ensure they retain their freshness.

The tie-up with Lazada helps improve the company’s multi-channel distribution, and the distribution method ensures safe shopping amid the COVID-19 pandemic, he said.

On June 8 the company signed an agreement with the Bac Giang Province Department of Industry and Trade to buy 2,000 tonnes of Luc Ngan lychee.

It will also buy other agricultural products from the province, such as white radish, bitter melon, zucchini, pumpkin, oranges, and poultry.

It said it has 15 testing centres with advanced technologies that control product quality.

Last year VinCommerce sold more than 200 tonnes of lychee, and the Luc Ngan variety was the most popular. — VNS
