Viet Nam-Russia oil and gas exploration joint venture (Vietsovpetro) has appointed Nguyen Quynh Lam as the new general director of the company.

Lam has replaced Tu Thanh Nghia, who had resigned from the post to receive the mission at the Viet Nam National Oil and Gas Group (PVN) Representative Office in the South.

Before his appointment, Lam served as deputy general director of Vietsovpetro.

The Party Committee of PVN also announced the decision to appoint Lam to join the Executive Committee, Standing Committee of the Party Committee and hold the position of deputy secretary of Vietsovpetro Party Committee term 2015-20.

Lam was born on March 30, 1966. He has a PhD in petroleum geology and served as the deputy general director of PVN from June 30, 2016.

Prior to that, he was director of PetroVietnam Exploration Production Corporation, general director of Bien Dong Petroleum Operating Company and Phu Quoc Petroleum Operating Company. — VNS
