Vietnam Airlines was named in the top 10 best performing companies for the third consecutive year. The firm was included in the ‘Top 50 Vietnam The Best’ by the VNR500 Ranking, which ranks the top 500 largest businesses in the country and is compiled by Viet Nam Report in co-operation with online newspaper Vietnamnet.
The carrier also ranked first in the top 10 reputable companies in transportation and logistics in 2018.
The VNR500 independently researches and evaluates companies basing on international standards. The assessment council includes many experts from Harvard University and leading economic and brand consultancy organisations in Viet Nam.
The ranking honours Vietnamese enterprises which have performed well in terms of revenue scale, efficient use of capital, stable profit growth and good social responsibility.
In 2018, Vietnam Airlines made consolidated revenue of more than VND100 trillion (US$4.3 billion) and consolidated pre-tax profit of nearly VND2.8 trillion, an increase of 15 per cent compared to the firm’s plan.
Vietnam Airlines estimated that it conducted nearly 142,000 safe fights, carrying 22 million passengers and nearly 350,000 tonnes of goods. The on-time performance index (OTP) exceeded the target and reached a high level of 90 per cent.
The airline took part in programmes such as ‘Love Journey’, bringing products to disadvantaged people, including children, providing billions of dong for the poor and flood victims and donating air tickets to talented students. — VNS
