HA NOI (Biz Hub) — VietJet's new route connecting HCM City and Taipei, launched last year, has opened up new travelling opportunities for passengers and effectively contributed to accelerating bilateral relations between Viet Nam and Taiwan.

The Taiwanese community living and working in Viet Nam has grown significantly over the last few years. To date, over 2,700 Taiwanese businesses are operating in the country, of which HCM City houses 1,000 firms.

In addition, hundreds of thousands of Vietnamese are studying, working and living in Taiwan.

"My job requires regular trips between Viet Nam and Taiwan. Thus, I often choose airlines offering quality services and competitive airfares, and VietJet is my favourite carrier," Luna Chiang, a Taiwanese citizen working in HCM City, said.

The HCM City–Taipei route will initially make five round trips per week from Monday to Friday and on Sunday, with many attractive promotions. The promotional fare of US$0.00 last October had provided thousands of people residing in Taiwan a chance to return home to Viet Nam for family reunions.

Furthermore, the airline is also implementing another programme for passengers who are residents in Taiwan with Vietnamese or Taiwanese nationalities as well as for Taiwanese citizens residing in Viet Nam.

Under the "Spread the Love" initiative, passengers will enjoy a 100 per cent discount on Taipei–HCM City flights on March 20, and a 50 per cent discount on the return journey when flying from HCM City to Taipei between March 20 and May 20.

Registration for this programme began on December 12, 2014, and ends on January 15, via www.vietjetair.com.

On scheduled flight days, VietJet will depart from HCM City at 2:30 p.m., Viet Nam time, and arrive in Taipei at 6:55 p.m., Taiwan time. Travelling in the opposite direction, a flight will take off from Taipei at 8 p.m., Taiwan time, arriving in HCM City at 10:25 p.m., Viet Nam time.

VietJet also intends to expand its flight network in the near future by adding flights from HCM City and Ha Noi to Kaohsiung and Taichung in Taiwan. — VNS
