Vietjet will provide three additional flights from Ha Noi to HCM City, in addition to its regular daily flights, to ferry passengers who have completed their quarantine period, the budget carrier announced on Friday.

The flights, all coded VJ1121, will depart Ha Noi at 5.30pm on Saturday and next Tuesday and 11.45am on Sunday. Passengers must have one of two documents. Those are a certificate showing they have completed their concentrated quarantine period or a certificate affirming they have tested negative for the virus.

For more information, passengers are advised to call Vietjet’s hotline 1900 1886, visit its website at www.vietjetair.com, or contact its ticket offices at Noi Bai International Airport in Ha Noi or Tan Son Nhat International Airport in HCM City.

The Ministry of Transport earlier asked the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam to impose restrictions on passenger transport around the country for a 15-day period starting from April 1.

Vietnamese airlines are permitted to operate two round-trip flights a day on the Ha Noi-HCM City route and one round-trip flight a day on the Ha Noi-Da Nang and HCM City-Da Nang routes. All other domestic flights have been suspended.

In March, Vietjet offered free COVID-19 insurance to all passengers flying on its domestic flights from Monday to June 30. SKY COVID CARE offers coverage ranging from VND20 million (US$860) to VND200 million ($8,600) for all passengers regardless of nationality and age.

Once passengers are confirmed positive for the coronavirus, subject to a test approved by the Ministry of Health of Viet Nam, and treated at a hospital or at an authorised medical camp in Viet Nam, they are eligible to claim.

The tens of billions of dong for the insurance premiums will be covered entirely by Vietjet — VNS
